I was in Grand Forks inspecting our client's buses at the factory when our New Flyer Rep. had planned to take us to dinner... She said that we were going to a very cool spot that is like by the locals very much. I arrived with a few co-workers to the Blue Moose let's just say I spent 10 minutes waiting for parking because this place was packed... Eventually I am parked and heading in... Out front stands the Blue Moose a walk way and the door... I find the rest of our group and head upstairs were our table is located... The menus are made like newspapers offering you the different meals like articles on the front page... First drinks: I ordered the New Castle on Tap tall; Oh was it cold and crisp!!!! Appetizers: Stuffed Jalapenos & Tapas Peanut encrusted Ahi Tuna both Vey Good!!! Main Course: Walleye with market veggies: Walleye was Awesome not a big Squash fan so the veggies not for me. Dessert: Crème Brule; All I can say is too Damn Good! I also sampled the Brownie let's just say a Chocolate Lovers Heaven ... The service was very fast & accurate, you would have thought with the place being so packed that there would be some delay but just the opposite. So as the Birdman C. would rate AAA+++ or 5 Stars..

Second time there this weekend. Last time I had the pasta which was fantastic. They have a Great selection of drinks and beers, 40 on tap. This weekend there was Octoberfest going on. They had a small german band dressed to the part. Lots of fun, good food, good drinks. Staff very friendly and knew the menu. The restaurant is large and beautiful overlooking the river. I'd go back and order again even though parking is a challenge.

I was honestly surprised by the food here, not much different from the type of food you would find at a chain restaurant. I know a red flag when typical bar food appetizers are called "tapas." The ambiance was loud and noisy, and the restaurant had enough space to easily accommodate over 100 diners. The desert sampler was a decedent assemblage of caramel, chocolate, ice cream, bacon, etc (not really too bad if you're with a lady friend). The walleye (a native northern american freshwater fish) was lightly fried in a panko crust and was actually pretty good.

Walked in on a Saturday night after catching a movie, and got seated immediately. I've been here a handful of times over the years and the scenery is definitely unique. We got a window seat which was nice being able to see the river and people enjoying their food outside. The waiter was courteous and handled my wife and I's order pretty quickly. I went with the Outlaw burger which was absolutely amazing. The one thing Blue Moose seems to excel in is there burgers. It tastes like they hickory smoke them and then take care to add toppings that go well with each other. My only complaint ended up being the table sitting to my back which was a drunk couple who I'm assuming came down from the bar. These people were borderline belligerent and not a word was said to them. Otherwise I'd recommend this restaurant.

Here in town to drop off son at UND So trying recommended places in town Being from the Northwest I had never had Walleye and had been told to try. Had a great portion of walleye fillet that was cooked perfect light and flakey. So many places overcook fish so this is a big plus for me. Three others in our group all enjoyed meal Thought the price was reasonable for what we are used to. We sat outside great server and service with nice view of the river I would most likely return when we visit and recommend.

First time here and while sitting on their outside deck sort of overlooking the river enjoyed the best meal of the weekend between the mushroom appetizer to the blackened fish dish the food was well presented and flavored. We plan on stopping by again next time we are near by.

Angel hair al fresco was somewhat bland until you mixed in all of the items that reside under it. Overall very good and fresh tasting.

My husband and I have been to Blue Moose several times just since our move to Grand Forks in March. We have tried many things on the menu and have enjoyed them all. I was surprised to enjoy the lettuce wraps and the Moose Mud Pie is a MUST! The service has always been good, even at very busy times.

This is a really nice space. The Patio looks out over the Red River and gives you a great view of Down Town. I took my grand mothers her for Mothers day and every thing on the buffet had something special about it. The French Toast was stuffed with Raspberry jam, the Stuffing had Craisens. It's really good. The Mac and Cheese rich and creamy and great. The Blue Balls appetizer is great if you like blue cheese. I do. I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it that they served as a special that was quite good. The Prices are good, the food is good, the atmosphere is good. There is a giant blue moose in front of the building. What more do you want?

Sitting right on the river the view from the deck is great. Was in town for about two weeks and went a few times. The Outlaw Burger was great with sweet potato fries. Also had the Pike which was pretty tasty, although the broccoli was swimming in butter (normally i'm cool with that, but i guess I wasn't that night). Good atmosphere, good food, good beer. Overall a great place to get a bite and a beer!

I was in East Grand Forks for work and met up for a meeting at the Blue Moose. The atmosphere is very laid back and the menu is in the form of a newspaper. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and a pretty large food menu. I ordered The Outlaw burger which has bbq sauce, an onion ring and pepperjack cheese. It was very good and the burger was cooked to perfection. Their sweet potato fries were also very delicious. If I return to EGF I will definitely make another trip to the Blue Moose.

This is the best restaurant in the Grand Cities area! Everything on the menu is good and I know this because I have ordered everything on the menu and shockingly I have never had a bad dish here. I take everybody here that is just visiting or is new to town and they love it and it becomes top of their list for restaurants here too. If you go, try the spinach dip for an appetizer, you'll base every other appetizer you'll ever have in your life off of this spinach dip. And I would highly recommend the bourbon Street Pasta and if you're feeling fun try the peanut butter with egg and bacon burger, it's actually really good. The ambiance is great in this place no matter where you are seated and if you're lucky enough to be here in the summer, sit on the patio and enjoy a cold drink and watch the sun set over the red river, it's amazing. They have a VERY good selection of beers from around the US and the world, and the beer menu tells you where the beer is from which is awesome, and great drink specials. I just hate how sometimes they will get a new beer and it'll be all sold out by 9pm, does the guy who orders the beer know this keeps happening? Also I love on the food menu it tells you some actual news stories from the area from the late 1800's, I wish they would change the stories quarterly though. You can't come to the East Grand Forks/Grand Forks area without going here. HIGHLY recommend this place!

Eat all the Spinach Queso and Bourbon Street Pasta! ...but don't forget to leave room for one of their 40 tap beers.

Came here to celebrate my husband's long awaited graduation from UND School of Engineering and Mines. My parents were with us but my husband chose it. He'd been here before w/some buddies. We loved it. My father and I had some sort of blue margarita and even warned them we were from TEXAS. ;) It was delish!!! We all shared appetizers and each had different dishes ranging from salmon to steak. All were happy with their meals. We really loved the vibe here. Yummmm!! GREAT SERVICE too!!!!!!!

I wish there was a bar like this in my town. 40 beers on tap would keep a guy busy for a while. I had the fish and chips. It was pretty good and the service was good, too. Very nice place.

second best restaurant in GF after toasted frog. very cool atmosphere. sorta like a log cabin. nice waiters, tho ours had a lot of tables to handle so service was a bit slow. She was very nice however. Very legit food, better than i was expecting. We tried a bunch of different dishes, all were good. I'll certainly go back when I return to GF

I was brought here for lunch by some folks from the University of North Dakota. There was so much to choose from! Definitely a good variety for a menu! I settled on a Nathan's Corn Dog w/jalapeno batter and onion rings. The corn dog was HUGE and delicious - the jalapeno gave it a bit of a bite, but not too hot. The onion rings were perfectly cooked. I was very happy with this meal!

OK, so the Blue Moose was one restaurant I was told I HAD to try when I moved to North Dakota for the summer. I finally ventured over there with my boyfriend for lunch. The decoration was sorta silly but fun to look at, and it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, so it wasn't too noisy either. We sat inside, but the large patio gives a nice view of the river, and I'm sure it can get crowded there at night. Food-wise... We were impressed. The black and blue (meat) balls were awesome! Never would have thought to combine meatballs and blue cheese. I don't think it's the Blue Moose's invention, since meatballs are another food trend right now, but I didn't expect to find such tasty ones in EGF of all places! The option to split a meal and still get your own side is a great deal, too. We were going to get our own sandwiches, but realized they must be huge for the price (and they were). Splitting one giant sandwich (the hot Italian I think) with our own side of fries was more than enough for us. We also got dessert, which was, of course, delicious. It was the cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce, though I think any of the sauces would taste good. I was really surprised by the quality of the food at the Blue Moose. I'm not sure what I was expecting (some sort of simple diner food perhaps?), but the Blue Moose is definitely one of the better places in GF/EGF for sure. I'd like to go back during happy hour-- they have a large selection of beers and probably some good food/drink specials.

The Blue Moose is a good place to go if you want of variety of both beer and food. There is nothing groundbreaking but it is all done well.

I'm from VT and was there for work. Have gotta say, the menu selection is far better then anything I've had in VT. The price was excellent, and I wish I had gone there all 4 days I was in town. Not sure if I'll ever be back there, but I highly recommend this place.

Leaves a lot to be desired. All of us were disappointed except the girl who got a burger. They even screwed up Mac and cheese! Super slow service too.

  • Drew B.

Although not a stellar restaurant by any means, it is one of the better places in the GF/EGF area. They have consistent food with some seasonal items, decent happy hour specials, and a crapload of beer choices. Add a patio into the mix, and that adds up to four stars from me! Recommended.

We had a good lunch here. Based on a previous review we split a walleye sandwich and got two sides. The fish was a thick filet and fried nicely. They split it form us. Onion rings good and corn chowder was very good. Sat outside overlooking the river. Nice atmosphere withgood service.

I was Grand Forks to check out some places and the name really caught my eye. Went in, sat at the bar and ordered a local IPA and the pulled pork sandwich and dang it was good. It just feels down right Murican

First time here, it was good just like other reviews mentioned. I had the outlaw burger, wife had the walleye. We both enjoyed our meals, but they weren't spectacular. The staff was fast and friendly. I will be back again.

Great place! I'm a vegetarian (and former vegan) and I love that they have options for both that is beyond salads and fries. I'm not into the animal heads, but everything else related to how it looks is cool. Kids menu is great, my daughter is also a vegetarian and there are options for her. Summer menu usually has a vegetarian option - the summer angel hair pasta is delicious! Desserts are great, but too expensive. I usually don't purchase those. The staff has always been friendly as far as I remember. It can get a little loud, however.

Probably 2.5 Stars. The waitress was friendly but the food was mediocre. I had the Ahi Tuna appetizer (not the best tuna I have ever had) and the blackened Mahi Mahi. The Mahi Mahi tasted okay and it was a large portion but was mediocre at best. I guess that is what you get for ordering seafood in the Upper Midwest. The worst part of the experience was the clientele. I first went it the bar area. All I could hear was F--- this and F---- that. I then asked to be seated in the restaurant. Throughout the entire meal there were children running around as if they were on a playground.

Absolutely RUDE hostess!! A large group of my friends and I went there on a busy night hoping to get seated. When we went up to ask how long the wait was we were told an hour. As I turned around to discuss the wait with the group (not even facing the hostess) I asked the group "where we could go that may not have a wait". The hostess rudely interrupted me and said "you could try McDonalds". I was absolutely appalled!!! We immediately left and we called the manager to let him know of the incident, he apologized but that was it. I've never been so appalled and needless to say I haven't been back since. What a joke!!

Great atmosphere and service. Lisa took excellent care of all of us (we were 12). The food choices were amazing. I had the Guinness burger expertly prepared. Solid! But the most popular dish at the table was the Walleye filet. Some got it broiled and some had It fried. No complaints. We also got The jalapeño poppers and the black and blue balls - meatballs and Bleu cheese - as starters. Whoa! Great place if you are in the area and hungry! Nice.

This was my first time here. First, the female server was excellent! Friendly, offered suggestions and checked on us lots. I ordered the Mac and cheese. The menu states it came with bread. The meal arrived and there was no bread. The server said they only serve bread upon request. I asked for it at that point. The server came back and said the chef no only serves little pieces of toast. See picture for size. The overall experience was just average.

Whenever my fiancé and I come to the Grand Forks area, this is the one place we always stop to eat. We cannot get enough of the Outlaw Burger and the terrific chipotle barbecue sauce! I'm also a huge fan of the Bourbon Street Pasta. Just the right mix of spicy and sweet. The worst part of eating here is probably the parking. The location is very convenient if you're planning dinner and a movie, but if it's evening and you're just hungry, expect to walk a bit! But with how delicious the food is, you'll be happy you burned those calories. Whether you're a GF area resident or just passing through, I highly recommend the Blue Moose!

I've been here three times now and I don't live locally. The menu is great & very eclectic - food is pretty darn good too. Prices are fairly reasonable for the amount you get. I've had GREAT service and mediocre service but all things said and done, it's well worth it to give it a try. The last visit my server was outstanding! I'll be back!

I can't decide if I like this place or not. One visit will be great but then the next visit not so much. My latest visit was the latter. I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately and given a water. It was about 4:30 and apparently a shift change was coming because the bartender seemed preoccupied with restocking so she could leave. When I was able to order a drink I tried a Long Island iced tea since it appeared to be a specialty of the house....it was nothing special. Granted, it was only 3.50 so I didn't expect it to be a true Long Island but this one was pretty week. Apparently you are supposed to order it with the soda fountain favors they push so it masks the fact that they are low on alcohol. Food was good, but not great. I went in thinking I would get a crab cake but apparently they don't do those any longer so I tried the "tapas" menu and got the sliders and quesadilla. The if the sliders hadn't been over cooked I think they would have been good. The quesadilla was OK. My biggest issue was dessert. I ordered the key lime pie off the special menu. From the description it sounded great. Instead, it cost them a star. It pretty much was nothing more than a dense whipped cream pie sprinkled with toasted coconut (?) and drizzled with key lime flavoring. It was easily the worst key lime pie I've ever tasted. I should have stuck to the mud pie.....which is excellent. Maybe if I go again I'll just order a beer and mud pie.

I like the atmosphere here but service is pretty slow. Quesadilla is alright. They also run out of Duckpond merlot wine. It's my fault. why would you wanna order wine here!

Awful experience. I visited this place on Friday night and after one hour of waiting to get our dinner the waiter came to the table and says that they were having some issues in the kitchen and the whole restaurant still waiting to get their meals. The food started coming out later to the table cold, orders mixed up and not everyone got their food at the same time. We had to stand up and get napkins and silverware. The manager came to the table to apologize for the inconvenient and took care of the table check mentioning that this wasn't the first table she had to talk during the night about the poor service. The excuse we received was the restaurant was full to the capacity and the kitchen had too many orders and couldn't keep up with the high demand of costumers. Even though the restaurant took care of the check this still a very unpleasant experience to go through when you are visiting a restaurant out of town and trying to have a relax dinner.

Whenever you're new in town, it's customary to ask where all the hot-spots are. The Blue Moose was one of the places that came up a few times. It's busy during the week and really busy during the weekend. There's plenty of seating in the bar/bar area. Service is good and plenty of food selection. The place isn't a game changer but it's far from bad either. If you don't like the vibe you can always check out the bar next door.

    (3)

Nothing special, service ok; food ok, atmosphere ok. I doubt I'll even remember this place in a week. It wasn't bad-it just wasn't great.

Came here with my son and a couple of his friends when I was visiting him in Minnesota. It was recommended by one of his friends, who was actually new to the area and it was one of the few eateries he knew. We all ordered burgers and fries and was suppose to get their special deal of BOGO, but I didn't realize until after we had already paid and left that I noticed that they had not given us the BOGO deal and in fact charged us the full price for all the burger meals, 8 all together instead of charging us for 4 meals. Seems the waitress didn't know what she was doing when we asked about the BOGO deal and I was in too much of a hurry to leave to notice the mistake until it was too late. Live and learn. So for that I minus 2 full stars.

love, love, love their burgers...haven't had a better burger than here....and love it 2x more when they are discounted on certain nights. lol! the meat is cooked to perfection and that chipotle sauce! i never had a complaint when i go here. and i go here at least 2x when i go to gf...one time when i first arrive and 1 time before i leave. lol have a friend that used to work here and he still goes here to eat, so it can't be wrong. ps. creme brulee is to die for!!! the beer options are great....the bf is still working on his beer shirt... lol.

Friend told me I need to try some Walleye while in Minnesota. I few yelp searches brought up this place. Found it fairly quickly. Seated quickly. Noticed they had a unique root beer on the menu, so I ordered that. Served in a cold glass, no ice, like it is supposed to. Ordered the Walleye pano style. Very delicious meal, worth the trip.

As a GF native this place is always a go-to. Nothing phenomenal but never disappointed. Very spacious. Spinach queso is a must. I always love their spicy chicken wrap and their buffalo chicken salad. Bud lite on tap with a pickle spear really ties your meal together. The staff is always quick and super friendly. Oh and their ranch is pretty much good on anything.

I went to Grand Forks today to look at some motorcycle gear and ended up at the Blue Moose Bar & Grill for lunch. Once again, I have to thank Yelp for helping me find a great restaurant. The restaurant is kind of tucked back into an area behind the movie theater. I probably wouldn't have found it if not for my GPS. It shares a parking lot with the theater, so I would expect parking might be a problem from time to time. As we approached the place, we knew we were in for something different. The front of the place had a large, blue wicker moose to the right and another smaller one covered in snow on the left of the walkway. Upon entering the restaurant we were surprised at how large it was, and how crowded it was for lunch on a Saturday. I was sure we would be in for a long wait, but we were seated right away. My friends and I were each given two menus - one for the seasonal specialties and a newspaper-style main menu that was packed full of good looking dishes. In fact, there were so many good sounding entrees that we all had a hard time deciding what to get. We started with the Spinach Con Queso dip. A spinach dip made with pepperjack cheese. My friends found it to be a little spicy ("spicier than ketchup" they like to say), but I thought it was mild. We chose this based on some other reviews, and those reviews were right on. This appetizer was excellent. For our entrees, I went with the Outlaw burger and seasoned fries. One friend went for the smothered chicken with a cup of French Onion soup and, being the original guy that he is, my other friend also chose the smothered chicken. My friends both said their meals were excellent, and I can say that my burger was excellent, too. The burger tasted like a good burger cooked on a backyard grill, coupled with some great quality additions (an onion ring and a sweet chipotle BBQ sauce). All of our meals were very large and none of us actually finished them. At the end, our curiosity got the better of us and we agreed to try a dessert that consisted of a brownie, bacon and pretzel. This dessert was so tasty, we had trouble stopping, but we did. We each only wanted 1 bite of the dessert because we were so full, so we actually had to build a barrier around the dessert to keep it out of our sight so we wouldn't be tempted. The bill for our very large meal came out to about $50. That might seem a little expensive but, remember, we got an appetizer, a main entree with a salad or a soup, and a dessert, split between three people. In the end, not bad at all. To be honest, it could have cost more and I still would have felt it was worth the price. My thought at the end of lunch was that it's too bad the best restaurant I have been to in Fargo, so far, is in Grand Forks. Thanks Blue Moose. I will be back.

This is a pet peeve of mine. A place that offers a large selection of beers, but refuses to give patrons a small, free sample so that they can try something new. Especially when they are selling glasses of tap beer for $6.50 each! Makes me wonder where else they are cutting corners and taking advantage of their customers.

Fantastic service, food, and atmosphere. Several beers too! The menu selection was diverse and the dessert was enormous! Will be coming back!

Always a good option for date night. It's a busy sports bar/pub atmosphere with an outdoor woodsy decor. The food is pretty good. I don't recommend the chicken wrap. It was very blah. Our service the first time was horribly slow which almost stopped us from coming back on our last date night because we had a movie to catch a little over an hour later. However, it was packed! And we were seated and waited on promptly. Our food came out quickly regardless of the fact that it was packed. We will definitely be back!

Asked for a burger cooked medium. Waiter says, "They cook them well-done, but I'll let them know." The burger was overcooked, dry shoe-leather fortunately helped by the gooey toppings. The onion rings were clearly right out of the freezer. If you like Sysco food products, right down to the ketchup on the table, rather than fresh, made-to-order meals, this is the place for you.

Traveling from Denver for work and stumbled upon this Gem! I got the Mother Clucker chicken sandwich... Sooo good. I also tried the walleye sandwich also delicious, not too fishy of a taste. LOVED that they had tons of beer on tap including the local choices. We also got several flights of beer. I feel spoiled with good food in CO and found that The Blue Moose is definitely up to par!

In Grand Forks for a business trip and stopped by the Blue Moose after a long day of traveling. Sat at the bar. Looked like it had potential for a good eat/drink and watch sports atmosphere, but it was a Tuesday night so it was pretty dead. They have a good selection of beers on tap. But there food left something to be desired. I ordered a chicken pot pie because it was flippin freezing out. The pot pie came out 5 minutes after ordering (a little too fast) and was warm inside, if not cool... I had to send it back where they reheated it somehow. It was fairly tasty but the pastry was doughy... I was still hungry, so I ordered the californiasuperdelicious... burger. It also came out really quick (maybe because it was not really busy) slightly over-cooked, not very juicy, and overall just mediocre... The sweet potato fries were pretty good. I would put this on par with a normal chain restaurant like Applebee's.

When we visited our son and daughter-in-law this is where they wanted to take us for dinner. We were very happy they suggested the Blue Moose! It is right along the river, near a camp ground, with lots of parking available. Chicken Tri-Tortellini, The Raspberry Walnut Gorgonzola Salad and the Honey Clucker Sandwich are all good choices. My son says all of the pasta dishes are amazing. The service was very good.

They have pretty standard food, their burgers are nothing to write home about. The sweet potato fries I had were pretty good, and they have a really good honey ranch sauce that they give out with their fries. What really gives them their stars is their homemade cheesecake, however. It was amazing, and you get a good-sized portion! I had mine with caramel on it, but you can choose whatever topping you want.

I've been coming here since they opened back in 1994! I remember when they were on the other side of the road where Cabela's now sits; Flood of '97 caused their relocation to the other side of the road. This used to be just a cool place to hang out, play pool and drink beer back when I was going to UND, but it just seems like they've kept improving both their food and beer menus ever since. My most-recent visit here was yesterday with my wife. We were having a short staycation in Grand Forks, and she wanted to go back here for lunch; I wasn't going to say no! Truthfully, The Blue Moose is best experienced in the summertime, because then you get to eat out on their patio, but when it's cold outside... Despite it being busy for lunch (it always is), we were seated immediately. The staff here has always been top notch, and I think they pride themselves on that; our waitress was no exception. We both had items from their seasonal menu. My wife had the Roast Beef Dinner (marinated in Jack Daniels), and I had the Fiery Cajun Alfredo (fettuccine w/ shrimp and Italian sausage). Both were so good that we decided to take them both home for dinner so we could save room for dessert, which was Carrot Cake. The Bailey's Irish Cream frosting on that totally made it! I had a Southern Tier Unearthly IPA and a Bell's Hopslam, both on tap; still can't believe that Hopslam was there! That stuff doesn't last a week at the restaurants here in Fargo; my hat's off to The Blue Moose's "Back 40" (lounge area named for their 40 tap beer lines) for still having it! Overall, I love The Blue Moose, and it's definitely worth your time to stop-in if you find yourself in the Grand Forks area!

Food is pretty good... Excellent tuna (cooked ruby rare). The lettuce wraps are ok, as is the fish taco (you only get one and there's not a lot of fish on it). I would describe this as high end bar food. Some things are above average, and other are fantastic.

Went to the Blue Moose last night after Pee Wee hockey game before we headed back home. Great setting and most eclectic with the different levels and good lighting and seating and not just a square box log cabin. Wait staff was very nice, a little confusing at times as maybe a shift change and a tad disorganized. It was the food that perhaps was a bit disappointing. I am always leery of restaurants with such large menus that try to cover so many bases. To me it means maybe some frozen items and not so much food from scratch. I had the onion soup, OK, a little salty and the bread was untoasted under the cheese. Most great onion soups have the bread toasted and I guess that is my preference. Next was the chicken pot pie and while OK, was not any knock your socks off dish. Minimal chicken chunks and the crust was more like a filo topping other than a real crust. Price point at $11 seemed a little high for what was received, and I never mind paying top $ if the quality is there. Would I go again??? Maybe, but I might want to try another place in East Grand if up for hockey again. And for the most part I am pretty fussy as travel a bit and try many different places and as I run a food operation I know what is good and not so great. But it was a fun place, food average, and would return with family and friends. Jim at Maplelag maplelag.com

North Woods decor (animal heads, lots of wooden furniture, etc.). If you're into that kind of thing, it's great. I felt that I needed to write a review because apparently the Blue Moose is THE PLACE to go for the wallet dinner. It's known throughout the country. And I don't doubt that it is absolutely delicious. ...If you're into that sort of thing. I ordered something simple: a chicken strip basket and a side of sweet potato fries. They were both very subpar, and much too expensive. I pay less for that sort of entry in other cities I frequent like Chicago or Cleveland. Come on, Blue Moose! Make your menu quality across the board, not just the "Minnesota specialty" items. With that being said, good selection of beer on tap, if you're into that kind of thing! A good place to meet up with a group. Two levels, lots of space. The bathrooms were clean. Plentiful parking in the front and back lots. 3 stars is a high rating on my end but I understand the reasons people love it, and it is a good restaurant/bar for GF to have. Plus, I did take a silly picture with the GIANT blue moose out front!

Best Food in town! Everything on the menu is delicious. Even the pickiest eaters can find something to enjoy here! The honey clucker is my favorite! They also have seasonal menus which usually offer something different so you can mix it up!

It would be a shame to drive 1000 miles to Grand Forks and then eat a chain restaurant. That is not what we were looking for while on our northern US tour. Blue Moose had the menu, atmosphere, and ND service we were looking for and the food was excellent to boot. Between the 3 of us, we had the bleu balls, charcuterie plate, baked walleye, walleye sandwich, and a Reuben. Happy campers all around.

Hadn't been to the Blue Moose for a while, so, we decided to give it another try. We were not disappointed. We had the panko fried walleye and it was delicious. it was not overly busy for a Saturday night, maybe because it is Labor Day weekend. Waitress was prompt and kept checking if everything was ok. Overall a good experience and will be back again.

Worth traveling to another state! Don't poopoo the egg and peanut butter burger before you try it! I haven't had one of these except San Diego and I've craved it ever since. All food was prompt, warm and perfectly cooked. Great wait staff French onion soup was only "average" item on the table. Calamari was very good in stick form similar to cheese sticks. The pub cheese was a tasty item as well I'll be back.

Last night in the frozen wilderness, the group opted for the Blue Moose Grill. We had a huge group, about 20 of us. Food came out on time, good beer and wine selection, a lot of really nice craft brews. The upside was that most of the folks who ordered steaks liked them, the downside, the chicken pot pie was real runny, not much stuff inside, just a lot of liquid. the other bummer here, got all excited about having a big bowl of French Onion soup, someone else ordered a cup, I ordered the bigger bowl. really what gives here, two different shaped containers, but they looked equal. And sorry to say the French Onion soup was blah, no onions, just a broth and one cracker with a smidge of cheese. Finding French onion soup on the menu was exciting, eating it sadly was not. I will come here again, on the next trip but am going to change up what I order and give them another shot. The food looked good, maybe it was an off night for the chef on my order, but please make the pot pies a tad bigger. I am only doing this because we are going to be there 2-3x and I want to decide after one more visit.

Well, 2 stars for the food 3 because this place actually has a decent beer selection & has various drink specials. The food: So, they have a lot of options on the menu however, in my opinion most of the food is mediocre at best. The on e thing I do really like is the artichoke appetizer, be warned though if you don't love garlic you won't love these. That's really the only thing I really like here. The mac & cheese is bland and I'm not sure about the use of penne pasta. Seems like an odd choice. Also, I am extremely saddened that the a lot of the veggies seem to be of the frozen variety (for example, I'm certain the broccoli I had was from a freezer). If I wanted frozen veggies I would eat them at home. I'm just not used to restaurants not serving fresh ingredients. Additionally, if you don't eat meat there is hardly anything to eat here. The drinks: Full bar with specials. The have a lot of brews on tap. Be sure to ask the waitress/bartender what they have that is new because they don't update the beer list as frequently as they change the beers. They have a number of domestics & imports. Staff: Has always been friendly, but sometimes go missing for a while. Ambiance: Cute. Like a log cabin with stuff dead things all about like a hunting lodge. Peta would be pissed haha. It's weird though cause in the bar area it seems like it was an after thought added on. Like it was a garage converted an inside room, so it doesn't have the same log cabin feel. It's also odd because it goes bar, tall tables, then short tables. So, if you sit at a short table you have to try to look around/through the tall tables to catch games on the TV. Not the best layout for watching sports, unless you get a spot at the bar or high table... I usually just come here to catch a game or a brew with friends. Not really somewhere I like to eat. If you like meat, you might like it more.... all the salads even come with meat!

Nice, homey, barrey vibe. We loved the stuffed animal heads - uh, on the walls, that is - and the service was friendly and helpful. Food was fine. Portions are Midwest large. I enjoyed the walleye, which was cooked exactly right (not greasy) , and my girlfriend loved her burger. So, go.

Probably one of my favorite places to eat in GF when I just want some simple American type food. I've had everything from steaks, burgers, pasta, and more and they've all been very good. Try the spinach dip for an app, its delicious. Service has always been good as well, and the prices are fair. This will always be one of my staple restaurants in GF.

This is another of our favorite places when in Grand Forks. Very nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of our family lake cabin in Wisconsin. We couldn't take advantage of their nice patio overlooking the river which adds to an enjoyable experience in summer ( -15 degrees last night). My husband loves the walleye. Friendly wait staff.

Found this with Yelp and tried it cuz it sounded kinda funky. Yeah! North Woods flavor decor that brought me back to hunting seasons in the MN woods every year as a kid. The menu's eclectic, the service is efficient and staff profusely friendly. Great assortment of people to watch, too. Lots of students. The food? We had the Chicken Tri Tortellini and Salmon Pasta and both were great. Tortellini could have been warmer, but still. I'd definitely go back here if I'm in town!

My husband and I have been to Blue Moose several times just since our move to Grand Forks in March. We have tried many things on the menu and have enjoyed them all. I was surprised to enjoy the lettuce wraps and the Moose Mud Pie is a MUST! The service has always been good, even at very busy times.

Yummmm!! GREAT SERVICE too!!!!!!!

second best restaurant in GF after toasted frog. very cool atmosphere. sorta like a log cabin. nice waiters, tho ours had a lot of tables to handle so service was a bit slow.

I'm from VT and was there for work. Have gotta say, the menu selection is far better then anything I've had in VT. The price was excellent, and I wish I had gone there all 4 days I was in town. Not sure if I'll ever be back there, but I highly recommend this place.

If you like Sysco food products, right down to the ketchup on the table, rather than fresh, made-to-order meals, this is the place for you.

love, love, love their burgers...haven't had a better burger than here....and love it 2x more when they are discounted on certain nights. lol! the meat is cooked to perfection and that chipotle sauce! i never had a complaint when i go here. and i go here at least 2x when i go to gf...one time when i first arrive and 1 time before i leave. lol have a friend that used to work here and he still goes here to eat, so it can't be wrong. ps. creme brulee is to die for!!! the beer options are great....the bf is still working on his beer shirt...

Best Food in town! Everything on the menu is delicious. Even the pickiest eaters can find something to enjoy here! The honey clucker is my favorite! They also have seasonal menus which usually offer something different so you can mix it up!

Nice atmosphere, excellent food. Everything (including salad dressings) is made on site. Great service...attentive, but not overly. Clean restrooms.

Great food and an even better atmosphere, an Unproclaimed landmark of Grand Forks (sorry I mean East Grand Forks). I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting. The outdoor seating in the summer is so pleasant and fun.

Eat all the Spinach Queso and Bourbon Street Pasta! ...but don't forget to leave room for one of their 40 tap beers.

My husband and I have been to Blue Moose several times just since our move to Grand Forks in March. We have tried many things on the menu and have enjoyed them all. I was surprised to enjoy the lettuce wraps and the Moose Mud Pie is a MUST! The service has always been good, even at very busy times.

I'm from VT and was there for work. Have gotta say, the menu selection is far better then anything I've had in VT. The price was excellent, and I wish I had gone there all 4 days I was in town. Not sure if I'll ever be back there, but I highly recommend this place.
